Decisions
We had our birth to three meeting this afternoon to determine if Madison is eligible for services. I about died because the speech ladies were arguing back and forth on whether she warranted them or not... In the end 3 of the women said yes and one said no. I decided to err on the side of caution for now and agree to services. So, Madison will be doing speech once a month for the time being...

Wednesday Weigh In
I had my weekly weigh in and I am officially down 3.6 pounds from last week... woohoo! I hope I can keep it up!
My BIG little boy!

My baby has transitioned to a BIG boy bed! We said goodbye to the crib last winter, and today we said goodbye to the toddler bed... It makes me a little sad! He was so excited when he saw it all set up! He jumped right in and snuggled under his covers for nap. I hope he doesn't fall out!!!
I have to say, I LOVE the cribs we bought! (We heart Bonavita baby furniture!!!) Anthony's has transitioned nicely from crib, to toddler bed, to a full sized bed. It looks super cute! When I get his bedding in I will post a pic!

(Ignore the bedding that is on there now... that's just what I had here...)
EDITED TO ADD: Anthony took a great nap! Afterwards he played for a while and said, "Mommy, I gonna take a nap 'gain in my bigs bed! k?" and off he went under the covers reading books :)
Home Makeover!
I have been rockin' for the past 24 hours... Yesterday, Jason painted the spare room while I was in operation organization mode. I organized two linen closets and my master bedroom closet all the while plugging away at the mounds of laundry that piled up during my business (aka: laziness). My closet was a HUGE task! Everything was falling off the shelves, the floor was hidden, and the amount of shoes were INSANE. But it is all neat... for now! :)
Last night we headed to Target to get some shelving because I decided to make the spare room a playroom. We were up until 1:30ish bringing up toys, putting together shelves, and organizing, but it was well worth it! It feels good to be mostly toy free down stairs. We still need some wall decorations, curtains, etc, (its a work in progress) but, for now I think I am in LOVE!!! The kids were so excited when they woke up! Somehow they thought the got all NEW toys :) The kids had a blast playing up there this morning....

P.S. Jason spilled paint ALL over the carpet upstairs last night.... Thankfully it mostly came up. I about died when I saw the mess!!!
P.P.S. We caught ANOTHER mouse! Will they ever go away?!?!?

I need your help...
My children's toys are overtaking my house! I cannot stand looking at them anymore! Currently, our family room is their playroom. It worked when they were much smaller. However, now they play more independently and I do not need to see them every second... (They can play now without me worrying that they will maim or kill each other)
Our plan was to finish our basement when they got to this stage of play, but we currently don't want to put any more money into this house because of the way the market is (plus it will be A LOT of cash!).
I have a guest room upstairs that rarely gets used. Seriously the door is always shut and no one is ever in there. We rarely have guests; so, I am thinking of taking all of the furniture out of there and making the guest room our playroom. I need opinions...
Currently, our pantry hides some of their toys, and I will keep that as a "toy closet" so they have a few things down here to play with. However, majority would go up. (Kitchen, table, shelves, little people, cars, etc.) All big items would be in the playroom.
Do you think I should lose the guest room and gain a playroom? I really need opinions on this! So I beg you, HELP!!!!

Party Animals
Last night, from a deep sleep, I was awakened by not one, but two children screaming... Of course my husband was working midnights (he always is when I need him at night) so I brought them both to bed with me. I could not comfort them at the same time in their rooms (plus I was sooo tired) so to my bed they came. We snuggled in, everyone was quiet. Dreams were awaiting me...
I don't know what happened next. The only thing I know is that my two children are running around my bedroom laughing, screaming, and having a grand old time. All the while I am asking, pleading, and screaming for them to get in bed to no avail. Somehow, my children were up from about 1 a.m. until about 4 a.m. grrr.... Then, they were up for good by 8 this morning!
Can we all say EARLY NAP!!??!!??

Gross!
Another mouse was caught in the garage this morning... yuck! I really thought only two lived there and they were gone. I didn't think there were more "friends"... I am happy to note that Jason disposed of the little guy himself, because I informed him "The disposal is against everything I believe in". He bought it and I didn't have to go out in the rain! Ha!!!
Come out, come out where ever you are...
Last week, I was on the computer (big surprise) and the kiddos were playing upstairs. I went up to peek in at them and only saw Anthony playing...
Now, Madison is always hiding. I am ALWAYS looking for her. She's a good hider. She stays quiet until you find her. Thankfully she only has three hiding spots... for now! :)

"Anthony, Where's Madison?"
"Don't know, wanna play tracks Mommy?"
"In a minute, first, help me find Mad...."
We searched high and low. Not once, but twice. We were calling her name and not a peep! I was getting a little nervous, but I knew she was there... SOMEWHERE! I went to check the laundry room one more time, and there I see two little legs sticking out from behind the shoe holder. When I moved it aside, she yelled "Boo!!" and bursted into a fit of giggles.... We all did! :)

The nerve of some people!
Jason and I had to go to WalMart (mistake number 1) to get a few things. The kids were being good, we got our stuff, and headed to check out. Anthony asked to get a train and we said no. No biggie. He was fine until we got to the register. At that point he started to cry. Not having a fit mind you; just crying. He said "Mommy I get a train? Please??" Again, I said no and I leaned in a said "if you want to go to the party tonight then you need to stop crying". He quieted down quickly. Again, No Biggie....
While all this was happening, Jason was placing our things on the conveyor belt thingie. That's when he heard the woman in front of us say to the cashier, "It looks like they don't believe in spankings. That child obviously needs one". Jason said NOTHING (mistake number 2) until we got in the car.
I was pissed, when he told me. At the woman for not minding her business and at Jason for not piping up.
Seriously, I have swatted Anthony's behind when his actions have called for it. What he did in line was no big deal and by no means did his behavior call for a spanking!!! He shed a few tears and QUICKLY got over it. I would have told that lady that this is nothing... you should see a real fit! I experience them every day!!! Give me a break! People need to mind their business!!! I can't wait for Target to open!!!

Random Thought...
3:38 a.m.: I am silently cursing myself for falling asleep before I went pee. I so didn't want to get out of bed. I laid there hoping I would fall back asleep when this thought popped into my head...
Isn't funny how in the fall when the temperature is 50 we think its cold, but in February if the thermostat hits 50 we are all outside running around and enjoying the "warm" day! At least that's what we do! :) Am I the only weirdo?
...Oh, yeah, I so had to get out of bed! grrrrr

Well put! ***Edited to add one of my favorite parts
A blog I read regularly (In the Trenches of Mommyhood you should check her out!), highlighted a post on another blog about the magic of writing. The writing was seamless, engaging, and eloquent. I found it inspiring and it makes me want to write more and more. Even though my thoughts may be boring to some they just may comfort, enlighten, or empower another. My children may look back and see their mother in a different light. Keep Blogging!

Speech
Madison had her first speech evaluation today (her second one is tomorrow) The woman who came was super nice. Of course, Madison tried imitating words (which she wasn't doing when I contacted birth to three) and showed off her newly learned semi-comprehendable words. (There are about 8 that she uses regularly) The woman was slightly concerned because for a "typical" girl her language is lagging. She does feel that she "is on the cusp of a language explosion" and just needs a slight nudge to get there. With that being said, the lady said if Madison were her child she would want her to be followed on a monthly basis (which she is recommending) to assist our family with skills and ideas on ways to encourage her language, growth, and development.
The woman also gave me a few tips which I plan on using ASAP:
1. digital timer: This will be used to help Anthony adjust to transitional times throughout the day (i.e. coming in from outside, going upstairs for bed, etc). The use of a timer should give him control of the situation and help resolve some of the knock down fits we have.
2. photo cards: I will take pictures of about 8 objects that Madison uses daily (i.e. applesauce, bananas, goldfish crackers, juice cup), laminate them, and put a magnet on them. They will stick to the fridge and she can show us what she wants. Thus, eliminating the guessing game and her fits.
The woman also believes that the breath holding tantrums (yes she passes out) will subside once she acquires enough language to voice her needs, feelings, concerns, etc.
Overall, the meeting was very informative and I feel the things I can learn from her can aid our whole family, not just Madison and her speech delay.

Imitation at its finest!
Last night was the kids' Little Gym class. We heart The Little Gym. TLG has gymnastics for mommy and me and older kids. I love how their program is set up and the way they teach the kids. Anyway, like most child classes, as each child finishes a skill or activity they are greeted by cheers and encouragement from the adults and children. It is neat to see the kids trying new skills and seeing their faces light up with each attempt. Last night, Madison was working on straddle rolls. Anthony was watching her intently. As she finished her second roll, he ran up to her, gave her a hug, patted her back, and said "you did a gweat job Mad! Wanna try again?" He took her by the hand and they ran off together. Imitation at it its finest!

woe is me...
I have the sadz today... I hate that! I am hormonal, sleepy, and nothing is going well... I went shopping this afternoon because I need some new clothes. "My gear is whack" (he he he that is what I would say forever ago. Old school slang cracks me up!) Anyway, I was on a mission for some new jeans, but all was lost. I found nothing. I either had the wiener bulge (ala jeans too big in the crotch area) or some serious plumber crack... Nothing fits my body any more. So, I have the sadz...
Oh yeah,, it was a crappy mail day too!

One more just because :)
Growing up...
My Baby (1 year old)My sweet little man has learned something new... He is growing up :( and testing his independence. I HATE it. I miss my baby...
You know how in the parking lot, crossing the street, or even when headed to time out, you hold onto your baby's hand, to give him direction or just to keep him safe? (I do anyway...) For quite some time now when I hang onto Anthony's hand, he tries to pull his hand away and says "But dats my hand" or "Dats my hand! Give it back...mommy!" <--- That's the one I get when he's really mad...
In the mall this morning he wanted to walk alone and ahead. He wanted us to follow his "path" because he had the "map"... I was proud of his confidence and independence, but I was struck by how he's a kid now, not a baby. I miss my baby :( yet, I love to see who Anthony is becoming...
My self confident independent "kid" (3 years old) October 18, 2008
So proud...
I never do crafts with the kids, which I don't get because I like to do that stuff. Last night we decorated two of our pumpkins. They enjoyed "crafting", so we will be doing them more and more... (I need to stock up on some basic supplies...) Anthony surprised me with his pumpkin. I gave him the pieces, (eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows etc) and let him place them all by himself. He put them all in the right spot. Even the eyebrows! You are all probably saying "big deal my kid's been doing that for years :P", but we have never done an activity like that. I didn't expect him to place them so accurately. I am proud of my little guy!
(Madison like doing this activity too, but she mostly ate the pieces, so Anthony helped... lol)
PS I am going out for a Mom's night out tonight... woohoo!! T minus 5 hours 'til I escape :)

giddy

I am a nerd, we all know this (if not you will soon find out), anyway... Jason is bringing home my new blackberry curve! Its pink and BEAUTIFUL :) (just kidding, it is pink though) I am excited to have a planner on hand, and for all the other cool features....
*** Jason just informed me that I don't have a texting plan... so sad :(
How is it?
How is it that both of my children were in the stroller, I was walking in a paved neighborhood, and yet my son gets dog sh!t on his foot? How is that even possible???!!! (PSA: Dog owners, please pick up your dog crap so that already crazy mothers do not get pushed further over the edge because of the way their 3 year old freaks out due to your dog's sh!t being on his foot)
How is it that my daughter is sitting in her chair drinking her milk one minute and the next she is screaming in pain because her arm is stuck in between the chair's slats....
How is it that my children were quietly watching Backyardigans on my bed while I showered for 2.5 minutes yet they somehow managed to empty my entire jewelry box in (let me stress this point) 2.5 minutes?
How is it that all of this happened in the first hour and a half that I was a wake?
How is it that even though this is how my morning started off, it has still turned out to be a good day?

ready, set, go!
Breakfast is laid out...
Clothes are ready...
Now, as long as I get my butt out of bed, I will have time to walk in the morning before an outing with a moms group I belong to... I should be able to go from bed to outside relatively quick since everything is already ready...
My intentions are good, I hope my follow through is as well...
My fingers are crossed!

Today is a new day....
So this morning, I grabbed two Nutrigrain bars, two cups of cereal, and 2 cups of milk, yanked Madison out of a silent slumber, and tossed both kiddos into the stroller. We walked and walked and walked some more (well I guess I did the walking or should I say dragging...) I walked my neighborhood for about 45 minutes. I almost died walking up the HUGE monstrosity of a hill that there is no way to avoid. With each step, I prayed that someone I knew would drive pass, take pity, and drive my fat a$$ home... No luck! Seriously though, it wasn't too bad until the hill, but I made it and felt better for doing it. I am going to try and walk each morning. The kids enjoy it and if I do it, I should lose some weight or at the very least tone up...
Today is the day I start my new exercise regimen. I need to do it, I WANT to do it, I just have to stay motivated. Our elliptical machine has been brought up from the basement, the cob webs have been cleaned off, and surprisingly, I have used it a few times. I just need to make sure that each day I do some kind of exercise be it walking, elliptical, or crunches... Something, ANYTHING! I figure I might be back to my old self in a few months IF I can keep it up!
If any of you fellow neighbors want to join me... let me know! I would love to have some company because walking and chatting is much more fun! :)

Breathe...
I have been crazy busy, which is why I haven't checked in... Jason has worked 6 overnights (which are from 7 p.m.-7a.m.) so I have been flying solo... Thankfully, the kiddos were pretty good and haven't forced me to check into an inpatient psych unit.... yet... :P
My uncle and his friend came to into town for a few days and we had a great time. While Jason was sleeping I put the kids down for naps and we went and had some great lunches, did some shopping, and had a few afternoon cocktails. It was FAB! (and MUCH needed!!!)
Today, Jason was off so we hit a local pumpkin patch with the kids for some quality familiy time and it was a lot of fun... Madison couldn't get enough of the animals in the petting zoo and Anthony was digging all the moonbounces... All in all it was a great day. The kids didn't nap (aside frm the 30 minute car ride) and I am greatly anticipating an EARLY bdtime! WOOHOO!

WOOHOO!

How is it?
Do Americans not know how to read?!?! Seriously people!!! How is it, that most people ignore a clearly written sign taped to my storm door?
Everyday, I tape up my sign:
Please Do NOT ring doorbell or knock!
Babies sleeping and barking dog inside!
Thanks!!
Still, morons come and ring the doorbell, or knock ever so softly and Murray the golden retriever goes APE SH!T! The best was when a few weeks ago children in 2 and 3 grade came to play with my children and rang the doorbell not once or twice, but 4 freaking times. What makes it so great is that their mother can't stand me (feelings are mutual trust me) and had no clue that her kids were coming to my evil house! Plus, why the heck would they want to play with my TODDLERS! GRRRR..... Nothing annoys me more then having my kids woken up at nap. Without their nap they are beasts and drive me freaking CRAZY! Their crying and whining is endless....
My sign isn't even small, it's fairly large. So, please for the sanity of mothers with napping children world wide... READ or better yet stay away between the hours of 1 and 4!!

Anthony's Antics
This morning Anthony woke up at an ungodly hour, so I brought him into bed with me pleading with the gods of sleep that he would snooze some more.... ha ha (damn those sleep gods!) Just as I was falling back into dream land Anthony growls (quite loudly I might add) and rubs his belly as he says "Anthony hungry too! Come on mom... it dinner time too!" He then pulled off all my blankets and my day officially began....

Pretty Cool
The high school in my old town is ranked number 22 in the nation for football. I thought that was pretty cool, considering most of the other schools are prep schools... I did some student teaching here and it is a nice school....
Cruel and Unusual Punishment!
Attention All PETA Members!!!
Turn me in, now....
We have mice in our garage. I don't mind them, they leave me alone and I leave them alone. We have cohabited peacefully for three years. As long as they stay in the garage we are good!Jason HATES them. He has been trying to get rid of them since we moved in.... They freak him out (its quite funny actually) anyhow, I digress....
I found a mouse in my Maclaren double stroller (as most of you know I coveted this stroller for MONTHS) the other day, so I finally got on board project mouse eviction...
I was adamant I wanted something fast and HUMANE!! So we set out for a solution.
First, we tried traps that capture them in this round box FAIL!
Next, we bought sticky traps. They are supposed to have a natural anesthesia in them..... Well, we caught 2 mice (Yippee)
They were completely stuck to the trap. One's feet were stuck. The other's whole body was stuck. He was lying on his side.... The natural anesthesia does NOT work. The mice were squeaking and trying so hard to get free. The harder they tried the more stuck they got. It made me cry. Jason refused to touch them, so I had to pick the traps up, and put them in a WalMart bag... So the poor mice suffered a horrible death... they were stuck and suffocated! I feel SOOO guilty!
Why oh why did they have to mess with my Maclaren? I would have happily continued our cohabitation....

Our kids are screwed...
Remember when you first started driving?!? I can remember piling all my friends in the car, cranking the radio as loud as it would go, and heading to the jersey shore. I was invincible (as all teenagers think they are....) I would get to LBI in record time... those were the days :P
Thankfully, our kids won't be able to do this! We will have peace of mind when they drive! WOOHOO!! How cool is that? Speed control, volume control, seat belt alarms... I can see how this would ease my always worrisome mind some (*note I did not say completely)
Yes, I think technology has screwed our kids on this one :) Thoughts?!?!

Where are your underwear?!?!?!
Did you ever think you would ask the above mentioned question over and over again day after day? I didn't either, but I do. This has become my life. Asking Anthony where his underwear is and to put them back ON! While at first it was funny it is now exasperating (okay its still funny, but I am sick of dressing my kid 1,006 times per day)! About a month ago, I would occasionally find my son sans underwear. I would think nothing of it, put the undies back on and go about my day... Now he constantly whips the undies off and runs through the house screaming with laughter! (The worst part... Madison finds them and puts them on her head, on her arms, and :gag: sometimes chews on them :gag: ) Last night, topped the cake. The kids were playing, Jason and I were crashing on the couch when the Backyardigans came on... Anthony jumped up, pulled his undies half down, started jumping up and down til they fell at his feet, he then kicked them off and they went FLYING across the room! He proceeded to jump, flail, and scream, "I'm dancin'... DANCIN' " at the top of his lungs. I kid you not it looked like a one member toddler mosh pit. He was all over the place "dancing" butt naked! I was in shock. I think it was the funniest thing I have ever seen. If only I had the video camera on hand...
I did it!

My hair is all gone. I chopped about 5 inches off and I love it! The color is fantabulous... There are a bunch of short layers and I am not quite sure how to manage them, but I'll figure it out. My too often relied upon pony tail looks funny now, but that's okay! Me likes!
PS its not the greatest pic but it works....

Breaking News!!!
I am shocked... Madison eats all kinds of things she shouldn't. Her favorite dish is Purina Beneful. She hides in the corner eating it. Madison eats everything and anything. She finds it funny when I ask her to spit it out....
Today, I roll up my sleeves to change a poo and as I remove her diaper I see... GRASS! Not just a single blade like a whole freakin' clump. Ewe! So now my little princess eats dog food and grass....

Big Day!
Tomorrow is the day! I am getting the new 'do! The stringy pony tail is no more. My roots will finally be covered. I will :gasp: be blond again! I will no longer make people run and hide and scream as I walk past with this hideousness sprouting from my head...
I vow to:
~Never wait 7 months between haircuts and highlights again
~Make time for myself
~Try to reclaim the trendy put together self that was me before the name "mommy"
Music to my ears!

My sweet Madison hardly speaks. I am really concerned, but her speech is getting better and better everyday. I really believe we are on the cusp of a language explosion... Madison has never said mama, or anything similar. Her vocabulary has consisted of: baby, bye bye, deuce(juice), and ba ba (but the bottle is gone so we don't hear that word anymore)
My sweet baby now says... Mommy!!! clear as day. Each time she says it I melt. Its all I need to hear to make my day. I feel so loved when she says mommy in her sweet quiet tiny voice. It really is music to my ears!
Busy, busy bee....
The other day, I was filling in my calendar for the month of October and everyday is full except for :drum roll please: 8! How is it possible for me to be booked for 23 days when:
1. I don't have a job
and
2. My children are not in school
It amazes me how my days fill up with gymnastics, play dates, music classes, group meetings, and doctor appointments.
I am supposed to start volunteering with a local charity for pregnant teens but at this rate I won't have the time... Next month I vow to not be so over booked!
